Just in time for IPM in Essen, the members of Euro Plant Tray eG have chosen for two models in the Normpack 200 format.
At the EPT stand in the Innovation Centre in Hall 4, all models will be presented to the general public.
Norbert Engler, member of the EPT eG Supervisory Board and member of the working group says: "In recent months, we and our members have worked intensively on the development. We had a total of 3 concepts at our disposal. It soon became clear that multitrays were preferred. Polytec brought these in. In several on-site meetings, the first designs were jointly tested, refined and further developed."
"There will initially be two trays in the 200 family, both of which can be used as multitrays. One tray for 8-12 pots of 9-10.5/volume 11 cm, the other for 6-8 pots of 10.5-13 cm. In this way, we cover the most commonly used pot sizes with just 2 trays, leading to more efficiency for users and an increase in tray rotations," explains Flora Späth, member of EPTs board.
"It was important for us to also launch the 200 models in time for the 2025 season. These are mainly used in garden centers, while the 400 models are mainly found in the DIY segment.
In just over a year, EPT members have now worked on the most important models so that our members and all other users, regardless of their background, can switch to reusable packaging in the near future. We would like to thank all members for their tireless efforts during this development period."
Orders for all EPT trays can now be placed. The start of production is scheduled for the second half of 2024.
Euro Plant Tray eG was founded in 2022 and by now has 30 members from Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, France and Norway. The common goal is to produce less plastic waste in horticulture by introducing the new industry standard for reusable packaging.
